Introduction

The purpose of this article is to provide the steps to select and describe the behavior of the different Network Modes available for the Enable set-top boxes.

Prerequisites

This article assumes that you have an Enable set-top Box. Enable set-top box families will include Aria, Amulet, and Kamai.

Summary

Launching the User Menu

If you are using the Nova remote control, press the. (dot) key immediately followed by the menu key.

If you are using the Maxi remote control, press the following key sequence: INFO > UP > INFO > DOWN > MENU

For customers with the OAK remote, press the following key sequence: INFO > UP > INFO > DOWN > MENU

Modes

The different network mode options are available in the Hardware/User menu under "Network Mode". There are 4 modes available: (Auto, Coax+Ethernet (Bridge), Coax, and Ethernet).

Auto Mode (Default mode)

The STB will attempt MOCA link detection for 60 seconds; if no MOCA link is detected, it will proceed to DHCP for 60 seconds. If this step fails, it will move to the next step.
The STB will try Ethernet Link detection for 5 seconds, If an Ethernet link is detected, it will proceed to DHCP for 60 seconds. If this step fails, it will move to the next step.
The STB will continue trying MOCA indefinitely. (The STB will NOT retry the Ethernet connection until a reboot is performed).

Coax + Ethernet (Bridged) Mode

In this mode, an alias is assigned to the Ethernet port (eth0:moca). The STB will use this eth0:moca to obtain an IP address.

Coax Mode

The Ethernet port is shut down and the STB will only use the COAX for network communication.

The coax port is shut down and the STB will only use the Ethernet port for network communication.
